About this Event

GAY MEN'S PADDLE LONDON 🛶🌈

Paddle. Meet. Maybe make a splash.

We’re heading back onto the water for another Friend of Dorothy paddle with Moo Canoes in Hackney Wick.

Moo Canoes
The Milk Float Barge Sweetwater Moorings, London E9 5EN, United Kingdom

Join a group of gay men for a relaxed paddle through East London’s canals and waterways, taking in a completely different side of the city. You’ll be sharing canoes in small groups, making this a brilliantly easy way to chat, meet new people and have a laugh while doing something a little different.

Never been in a canoe before? Perfect. No experience is needed. Moo Canoes provide the equipment and buoyancy aids, plus a beginner-friendly safety briefing before everyone heads onto the water.

Come with friends or even better come solo. We’ll get everyone into groups and make sure nobody is left standing awkwardly on the bank wondering where to go.

Scared to come alone?

Most of our guys showed up solo too

It's the most common worry we hear. Here's how we make sure first-timers leave feeling like they belong.

1

You won't be the only solo guy

More than 60% of attendees come alone. The room is built for it.

2

We greet you at the door

Tell us it's your first time and we'll introduce you to people right away.

3

The activity does the work

You don't have to make small talk from cold.

4

Leave when you want

Stay for the social or head home early. Both are normal.

Azamat

Your host on the night: Azamat . They'll be at the door from doors-open. Message the WhatsApp group if you're running late or can't find us.

Finally a gay event where I felt seen

I'm 47 and most gay events make me feel ancient. This one had every type of guy — single, coupled, all ages.

My first gay event ever

Was so nervous to come alone. Within 10 minutes someone introduced themselves at the bar.

Worth every penny (which is barely any)

£10 for a line-up that would cost £40 anywhere else, plus a drink and a gift bag.
