About this Event

Make pots. Meet people. Make friends.

Make pots. Meet people. Make friends.

Our pottery workshop has a new home. Join ceramic artist Lucas Buttchewits at The Rosy Hue in Elephant & Castle for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to pottery. No experience needed.

You'll try traditional hand-building techniques (pinching, coiling and slab building) to make your own tableware or decorative pieces, then decorate them with leaf and flower imprints and painted slip. Lucas guides you through every stage.

Like all Friend of Dorothy events, it's about more than the activity. It's a small, relaxed group where gay, bi, trans, non-binary and queer people can meet and form real connections outside of apps.

All materials, tools and firings are included, and your favourite piece will be ready to collect a few weeks later.

Come get creative. Meet new people. Leave with something handmade and a few new connections. 🌈

Scared to come alone?

Most of our guys showed up solo too

It's the most common worry we hear. Here's how we make sure first-timers leave feeling like they belong.

1

You won't be the only solo guy

More than 60% of attendees come alone. The room is built for it.

2

We greet you at the door

Tell us it's your first time and we'll introduce you to people right away.

3

The activity does the work

You don't have to make small talk from cold.

4

Leave when you want

Stay for the social or head home early. Both are normal.

Finally a gay event where I felt seen

I'm 47 and most gay events make me feel ancient. This one had every type of guy — single, coupled, all ages.

My first gay event ever

Was so nervous to come alone. Within 10 minutes someone introduced themselves at the bar.

Worth every penny (which is barely any)

£10 for a line-up that would cost £40 anywhere else, plus a drink and a gift bag.
