About this Event

One community, no exclusions. An evening of music for a cause close to our hearts.

Big Gay Out and Song in the City present Music for Change, a fundraising concert for You Are Loved. All three do brilliant work for our community, and we love what they stand for, so weโ€™re getting a group together to turn up and show our support.

The cause
You Are Loved is a grassroots Community Interest Company working to prevent suicide and drug-related deaths across the whole LGBTQ+ community, with no one left out. Through campaigns, bereavement support groups, community discussion events and a national LGBTQ+ support directory, they tackle loneliness, stigma and shame at the root. Tackling loneliness is exactly why Friend of Dorothy exists, so this one means a lot to us.

One Community, No Exclusions
This yearโ€™s concert celebrates a community that includes everyone: lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer alike. Expect powerful classical and musical theatre performances with real heart behind them. Every ticket raises urgent funds, and the evening is a reminder that the fight for equal rights is one we carry together.

Marking Transgender Day of Remembrance
The concert falls on 20 November, Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to honour the trans lives lost to violence and prejudice. At a time when our trans siblings are having their rights taken away, the evening is a deliberate act of solidarity: a call for hope, connection and belonging, expressed through music.

Come with us
Weโ€™ll meet as a FOD group before the doors open at 7pm so nobody walks in alone. Afterwards weโ€™ll head somewhere nearby for a drink and a chat. Whether youโ€™re a regular or this is your first FOD event, come and be part of it.

Scared to come alone?

Most of our guys showed up solo too

It's the most common worry we hear. Here's how we make sure first-timers leave feeling like they belong.

1

You won't be the only solo guy

More than 60% of attendees come alone. The room is built for it.

2

We greet you at the door

Tell us it's your first time and we'll introduce you to people right away.

3

The activity does the work

You don't have to make small talk from cold.

4

Leave when you want

Stay for the social or head home early. Both are normal.

Finally a gay event where I felt seen

I'm 47 and most gay events make me feel ancient. This one had every type of guy โ€” single, coupled, all ages.

My first gay event ever

Was so nervous to come alone. Within 10 minutes someone introduced themselves at the bar.

Worth every penny (which is barely any)

ยฃ10 for a line-up that would cost ยฃ40 anywhere else, plus a drink and a gift bag.
