Gay Men's Art Meet — Tate Britain
- A casual, no-itinerary group wander round the galleries
- Good company to talk art (or gossip) with
- A coffee run afterwards to keep the conversation going
About this night
Art, gossip & good-looking strangers.
Good Art. Better Company.
Join us for a casual wander round Tate Britain — no itinerary, no lecture, just a group of us moving through the galleries together, stopping at whatever catches our eye. Come for the art, stay for the conversation it sparks.
There's no pressure to know anything about art history here, just a shared afternoon of looking at interesting things with interesting people.
But like all Friend of Dorothy events, this isn't just about the gallery.
It's about creating spaces where gay, bi, trans, non-binary and queer people can meet, talk and form real connections outside of apps and bars. With no structured activity to hide behind, it's a lovely, low-key way to actually talk to people.
Free to attend, coffee after for anyone who wants to keep the conversation going.
Come look. Meet new people. Leave with a coffee and a few new numbers. 🌈
What it looks like when it actually works

Bring a friend or two
Everything's funnier with a mate next to you. Send them this page — the button opens your share sheet on mobile, WhatsApp on desktop.
Send to a friendMost of our guys showed up solo too
It's the most common worry we hear. Here's how we make sure first-timers leave feeling like they belong.
You won't be the only solo guy
More than 60% of attendees come alone. The room is built for it.
We greet you at the door
Tell us it's your first time and we'll introduce you to people right away.
The activity does the work
You don't have to make small talk from cold.
Leave when you want
Stay for the social or head home early. Both are normal.

Finally a gay event where I felt seen
I'm 47 and most gay events make me feel ancient. This one had every type of guy — single, coupled, all ages.

Was so nervous to come alone. Within 10 minutes someone introduced themselves at the bar.
— Theo · Comedy night, JuneWorth every penny (which is barely any)
£10 for a line-up that would cost £40 anywhere else, plus a drink and a gift bag.
